Shroff Vanilla Balsam

An unusual take on vanilla, Shroff Vanilla Balsam is surprisingly dry and soft. The name would suggest something dripping and sticky with tolu balsam or balsam of Peru (both have a vanilla like smell), but this is a masala based incense.  You can smell the lack of oils here, and the incense is mostly woody-dry in character. The vanilla here is delicate, dry and not particularly sweet. It provides a subtle counterpoint to the wood. If you like dry incenses, you may find Vanilla Balsam to be a refreshingly light take on vanilla.

Since I’m not a big fan of dry incense, I’ll pass on this, but it was interesting to experience a woody non sweet vanilla.
